Square Enix has announced that the popular manga 'Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You' by Jinushi will be adapted into a television anime, set to premiere on TBS in 2026. To celebrate this exciting news, Jinushi has also created an original illustration!
About the Manga
Jinushi launched 'Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You' on Twitter in March 2022, and it later began serialization in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine in August of the same year. The series has been well-received, with the sixth compiled volume shipped in January 2024, and the seventh expected in July.
The Story
Manga Up! Global describes the story as follows:
Meet Sasaki, an overworked, middle-aged office worker. His days are filled with monotonous corporate tasks. Smoking helps him unwind, and his favorite moment is seeing Yamada's smiling face at the nearby supermarket. One evening, after a tiring day, Sasaki finds Yamada has missed her shift. Disappointed, he searches for a smoking area but can't find one. Just as he's about to leave, a girl named Tayama, dressed in a biker jacket, invites him to a secret smoking spot!
