The Journey So Far
The original Ys: Memories of Celceta made its debut on the PlayStation Vita in September 2012 in Japan. It was later released in North America by XSEED Games in November 2013, followed by a European release by NIS America in February 2014.
The game was also made available on the PlayStation 4 in Japan in May 2019 and a PC version was launched in July 2018. XSEED Games released the PS4 version in English in June 2020, providing players with the following storyline:
Knowing nothing but his name, Adol Christin awakens to find himself in the town of Casnan, a bustling frontier village at the edge of an endless sea of trees and untamed wilderness...
(Full storyline description can be found on the XSEED website.)
What's Next for the Franchise?
Earlier this year, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana launched for the Nintendo Switch in Japan in April 2023. It is set to release in English for Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 on January 7, 2024, thanks to the collaboration between XSEED Games and Marvelous Europe. This game is a remake of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, initially released in 1989.
Nihon Falcom originally brought Ys: The Oath in Felghana to PC in Japan in June 2005, with subsequent releases on PlayStation Portable in 2010 and in English by XSEED Games in the same year for PSP and then for PC in 2012.
